Pittsburgh-Specific Resources for Trans & Gender Diverse Youth

This is a library of resources for gender diverse, trans, and queer youth and families residing in Pittsburgh or around Allegheny County.

  • Union Progress: List for local trans individuals and families
  • PERSAD Center: Provides services to prevent and respond to the negative outcomes that can occur in youth when affirming support is not present
  • Pittsburgh Equality Center: (formerly GLCC) serves as a bridge that promotes education, advocacy, and social justice for all LGBTQIA+ people and allies in Western Pennsylvania
  • Project Silk: An innovative program directed towards African American and Latino young gay and bisexual men and transgender people in Pittsburgh between the ages of 13 and 29. The project provides a safe space, hosts community events and links youth to medical care, HIV/STD testing, hormone treatment, counseling, housing, education, job training and legal services.
  • Gay for Good Pittsburgh: Mobilizes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) and ally volunteers to promote diversity, foster inclusion and strengthen ties to the broader Pittsburgh community. Gay For Good facilitates welcoming, inclusive service projects in support of a wide range of causes throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas
  • Dreams of Hope: Library of queer youth arts
  • Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation: Has LGBTQ+ support groups, fun events, and programs that teach LGBTQ+ youth how to care for their mental health.
  • SisTers PGH: Open Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm for transwomen, transmen, and non-binary folk looking for a safe place
  • Trans YOUniting: Trans community network; peer mentorship & human services
  • QBurgh: Local LGBTQ+ directory
